Former Manchester United CEO David Gill has admitted one of his biggest regrets from his time at the club. It is the famous incident between Roy Keane and Sir Alex Ferguson.

“I’ve said this to Sir Alex and my only regret is that they were so nice to each other. And seeing their relationship fall apart It’s a shame,” Gill told the FIVE podcast.

“Of course I feel that way. He is a great captain. And the breakdown of the relationship between Ferguson and Keane was very difficult.”

“You have two winners and are highly motivated in your own mind. And it got to that point. We should celebrate what Roy Keane has done for the team, he has been outstanding for so many years.”

Gill was CEO of Manchester United during their heyday under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He had the opportunity to talk with Rio Ferdinand about the club’s past events. One of these was the broken relationship between Ferguson and Keane, which led to the latter leaving the club in 2005.

Keane is considered a legend for the “Red Devils”, having played more than 400 matches for the ยูฟ่าเบท club and winning many trophies. Including the Triple Championship in 1999

However, Keane had to end his career at Old Trafford after he criticized his team-mates in the media.
