OFFICIAL: Man Utd confirm McClaren leaves the team to accept the job of coaching the Jamaica national team.

Steve McClaren has decided to leave his role as first-team coach at Manchester United to take over as Jamaica manager.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Steve McClaren as head coach of the Reggae Boyz. We are confident that we are on the right track and we look forward to him leading the ยูฟ่าเบท team to the 2026 World Cup,” said Michael Ricketts, president of the Jamaica Football Federation.

“I am very proud and excited to be appointed as the head coach of the Jamaica national team,” McClaren said . “I have no hesitation in accepting the role which is right for me at this stage of my career.”

“Before returning to Manchester United for a second time, I spent time at FIFA as a technical advisor and Jemaeka was one of the teams I worked with, so that’s why I’m ready to work hard here to develop a bright future ahead of me.

The 63-year-old returned to United in 2022, working as Erik ten Hag’s assistant, but his role changed this summer.

The Dutchman has seen the need to revamp his coaching staff, bringing in new coaches including Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hage, who have agreed to become his assistants.

McClaren’s role then changed from assistant to first-team coach, but he eventually decided to leave to seek a new challenge.
